Letter sent to Parents:
Dear Parents and Boosters,
These past few weeks have been great for us and the experience we are receiving from performing our fall show. It is amazing what one can accomplish when you set your mind to a specific goal. Our goal has been to perform to our best ability and have fun and enjoy what we are doing. We have done well but with added practice and drive we will have greater success this fall. We have one more contest on Saturday October 22nd, 2022, in Maryville, TN, at Heritage High School at the Volunteer Classic. Still waiting on the schedule before an itinerary can be put together. As soon as that happens, I will post it on the website: la-sotw-band.net. This weekend is Homecoming and that means a parade on Thursday evening followed by a Pep Rally at Central Park and then on Friday a Football game at home verses Cumberland County HS. Traditionally we have a 3rdquarter break and have a meet and greet with the visiting band and we need snacks and finger foods to eat and share as well as water to drink. Any help will be greatly appreciated. This is a great time for our students getting to know one another and see that others are doing the same thing.
I appreciate everyone that has been helping the band and following us to our competitions, I know the students see this and perform better for those they know. Just a reminder that every parent is invited to participate in the Band Boosters. The more participation the more we can do for our students. Help is still needed at our concessions stand (al fresco). If you would like to help, please be there (at the school) around 4:30 to 5:00 PM, set up takes time.
The students have an opportunity to participate in TTU’s Band Day, October 15th, 2022, and play along with the TTU Golden Eagle Marching Band. They start at 1:00 PM and end around 9:00 PM that night. TTU is playing TSU from Nashville and should be an exciting game to watch, but halftime could prove super exciting if their band plays as well.
God Bless You!!!

Important Notes: Band Camp Week 1, Week 2 and week 3 are required - mandatory camps for ALL Band Members. These camps involve learning basic marching, learning music, and practicing for our fall marching show, as well as pre-game. These camps will include music rehearsals, warm-ups, sectional practice, marching fundamentals, drill work, etc.. in order for us to learn the fundamentals necessary for our show. If you do not attend Band Camp Week 1(Percussion and Color Guard), Week 2 and Week 3 a spot Will NOT be guaranteed for you in the show.(Communication with the Director is very important.)
Food: snacks and drinks you will need to provide; lunch will be provided this year,
Clothing: Wear light clothing, color and weight, shorts, t-shirts, tennis shoes (required), and extra socks. Students can also wear a hat to cover their heads and faces from the sun. Water bottles, sunscreen, sunglasses, snacks, and extra clothes for inclement weather are also good ideas.
There are 5 home (at Tech) football Games and 5 away Games (may not travel to all the away games), there are also numerous festivals and competitions we attend on Saturday’s and you are required to participate. Parades are also a part of what we do.
There is a fee which we require and is not covered under the fee waiver program of Livingston Academy, this is to be paid by all band and color guard members. Our show for the fall is scheduled to be “TBD”. If you have any questions, please call or email me, Thank you.
The Livingston Academy "Spirit of the Wildcats" Band program consists of marching band, concert band, pep band, jazz band, wind and percussion ensembles, and color guard. The marching band and color guard begin their very busy schedule with band camp in July and generally rehearse and perform from August through early November. Livingston Academy Band competes in the Tennessee Music Educators Association (TMEA) and the Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association (TSSAA) Division II classification and the Middle Tennessee School Band & Orchestra Association (MTSBOA). Concert Band and Jazz Band perform from December through May and members regularly participate in many festivals, including the MTSBOA solo and ensemble festival. The marching band, concert bands, pep band and jazz band all appear at school and community functions throughout the year. The bands perform under the direction of Greg Dingwall and assisted by Mike Holbrook.
