Updates & Changes
With the ongoing situation with the pandemic I have decided to change up the Band Banquet for tomorrow night, July 24, 2020.
So instead of a pot Luck dinner we will have a time for families if they wish to bring their own meals in and eat and enjoy while we have the awards ceremony. We ask if you want to bring something to share make it something individual, Like cupcakes, brownies, Cookies , etc.. wrapped if possible. We will try and keep this as short as possible. Our Camp photo will be tomorrow, so returning band members wear or bring your show shirt for the pictures, new high school members if you have your Middle school band shirt or one from your school please bring or wear it as well. Pictures will be around 11:00 am. After the awards we would like to have a brief Band Booster meeting. We invite every parent or guardian to stay and meet with us. All Parents are automatically a member because of you band member.

Time flies as we are seeing a time of re-opening of our activities and a relaxing of the stay at home order. We now can see each other responsibly, social distancing, Things are currently looking brighter and hopefully we will see a complete return to being able to work together again. With that in mind here is some good news,
LA “Spirit of the Wildcats” Band
First week of camp went really well. Seeing the Drumline come together and the Front Ensemble working together, the Colorguard coming together has been great. Expecting great things as we continue into Band Camp Week 2. Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow, 8:00 AM start time on our practice field, make sure to wear light and loose clothing, tennis shoes or sneakers, no flip flops, sandals, or crocs please. A hat, sunglasses and sun screen spray or lotion, lots of water. The school is now providing us with lunches and some breakfast throughout the week or you can bring your own. In the afternoons we will have music rehearsals and sectionals, so bring your instruments. LA "Spirit of the Wildcats" Band looks forward to the growth and each and every member being here to help make this year a very special one. See you tomorrow!!!

Marching Band Rehearsals are from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at LA Band room area and the old tennis courts out back. Remember if you are new to the high school band you need to be here if at all possible. Bring water for yourself, snacks, sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses. Please remember to drink lots of water to help maintain your hydration. The school nutrition program has graciously been providing free lunches for us, you may partake of this if you choose. Please wear appropriate clothing, sneakers or tennis shoes, socks, shorts (not Mini's) Light colored T-Shirt. This will continue through the rest of camp. See all of you tomorrow, 8:00 AM sharp, but remember 10 mins before time is ON - TIME, ON - TIME is late. so start now, school starting is not far behind. Love you all.
I will be changing the BAND APP and adding more sections for specific groups so be looking for the new updates forthcoming. Please check band often for something from me to keep you informed and up to date. YOU ARE MY extended family and I CARE about each of you. Let me know if I can be of help to any of you at any time. Dates: Night Rehearsals, due to the time we are navigating through night rehearsals are going to be stopped this year with all hope that we can return to normal next year 2021 – 2022. When we do meet together Covid-19 Health requirements will be in place. Other dates of interest:

Important Notes: Band Camp Week 1, Week 2 and Week 3 are required - mandatory camps for ALL Band Members. These camps involve learning basic marching, learning music, and practicing for our fall marching show, as well as pre-game. These camps will include music rehearsals, warm-ups, sectional practice, marching fundamentals, drill work, etc.. in order for us to learn the fundamentals necessary for our show. If you do not attend Band Camp Week 1, Week 2 and Week 3 a spot Will NOT be written for you in the show. (Communication with the Director is very important.)
Food: snacks and lunch will not be provided this year, lunch, snacks and drinks you will need to supply
Clothing: Wear light clothing, color and weight, shorts, t-shirts, tennis shoes (required), and extra socks. Students can also wear a hat to cover their heads and faces from the sun. Water bottles, sunscreen, sunglasses, snacks, and extra clothes for inclement weather are also good ideas. Masks will be worn as dictated by the guidelines for returning to school by NFHS and the OCBOE.
You are responsible for your own water, snacks and food for breakfast and lunch.
There are 5 home football Games and 5 away Games (we may or may not travel to), there are also numerous festivals and competitions we attend on Saturday’s and you are required to participate. Parades are also a part of what we do.
There is a fee which we require and is not covered under the fee waiver program, this is to be paid by all band and color guard members.Our show for the fall is scheduled to be “The Journey of Man HEROES”. If you have any questions, please call me, Thank you.

The Livingston Academy "Spirit of the Wildcats" Band program consists of marching band, concert band, pep band, jazz band, wind and percussion ensembles, and color guard. The marching band and color guard begin their very busy schedule with band camp in July and generally rehearse and perform from August through early November. Livingston Academy Band competes in the Tennessee Music Educators Association (TMEA) and the Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association (TSSAA) Division II classification and the Middle Tennessee School Band & Orchestra Association (MTSBOA). Concert Band and Jazz Band perform from December through May and members regularly participate in many festivals, including the MTSBOA solo and ensemble festival. The marching band, concert bands, pep band and jazz band all appear at school and community functions throughout the year. The bands perform under the direction of Greg Dingwall and assisted by Mike Holbrook.
